In October 2012, Friedrich-Alexander University Busan campus located at BJFEZ Jisa Area announced that a total of 25 Graduate students will be recruited by January 15, 2013, with scholarships available from Korean and German funding institutions.
FAU Busan with a faculty of 32 members, opened in March 2011 is the BJFEZ’s first foreign educational institution and also first German university campus in Asia offering the same curriculums in field of life sciences including Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Mechanical Process Engineering, Environmental Process Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, and Thermodynamics Engineering, which is taught in English with same quality Master’s degrees graduate courses from the Eerlangen-Nuremberg Campus and students earn the same degrees credited from FAU Germany.

BJFEZ and Pukyong National University signed a cooperation agreement, which will accelerate the Global campus project in Myeongji International city attracting prestige foreign universities and R&D institutions. This will also boost the image of BJFEZ in attracting foreign interest and contribute greatly to the human resource development of the BJFEZ area.

BJFEZ held the 6th annual English Speech Contest during October 30 ~ November 1, 2012 for the students from elementary level through university level in the Busan and Gyeongnam area.
BJFEZ Authority has been hosting the speech contest every year to improve the image of BJFEZ and contribute to the improvement of local students’ English capabilities.
There were four categories of levels; elementary, middle school, and high school with Speech Title of “Introductions of BJFEZ to Foreign Enterprises”, and for University students Speech Title was “How to publicize the BJFEZ to Global entrepreneurs in an effective way.”
A total of 28 students were selected as award winners;
One Grand Prize, One Gold Prize, Two Silver Prizes, and Three Bronze Prizes for each level with a total of 9.2million won were given as award prize money and Maecheon Scholarship Foundation run by Taekwang Co. Ltd., selected 13 students separately to give scholarship funds of 10million won in total. The Award Ceremony was held on November 6, 2012

BJFEZ had visits from Mongol and Vietnam Government officials, the Mongol Government officials were lead by Sookmyung Women’s University and Vietnam Government (Ministry of Planning and Investment) officials were led by Knowledge Economy Officials Training Institute of Korea. They both received the presentation on BJFEZ’s function and had a questions and answer session.

BJFEZ and Busan Port Authority held the “How to take advantage of FTA for global logistics hub” seminar at Busan Lotte Hotel on October 31. In this seminar there were about 100 guests from Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Knowledge Economy, City of Busan, and Gyeongnam Province attended and shared the important information with inspiration for the future business outlook.
