February 24th, 2009-Commissioner Kim Moon-hee and Constantine E. Mastry, CEO of MMIS (Mastry Marine & Industrial Supply), the 7th largest globally ranked marine engine manufacturer, have signed an MOI (Memorandum of Intent) to build a US$50 million manufacturing facility in either Hwajeon or Mieum Districts by 2011.

Florida based MMIS established in 1962, is a global leader in yacht, boat and marine sports related products manufacturing.  In 2008, they enjoyed net sales of US$0.4 billion; with a work force of approximately 750 and currently ranked as a global leader in the boating industry, the BJFEZA looks forward to the future  of the Korean yachting and pleasure boating industry.

MMIS decided on the BJFEZ as a potential location for its manufacturing base for the Northeast Asian market, a fast growing market, due to its strategic location and strong fundentals in in the shipbuilding industry.  Up to US$50 million  investment in a 33,000 square meter manufacturing facility to produce marine pleasure craft engines is intended by 2011.

April 20th-24th, 2009-The BJFEZ Authority will participate in the FEZ Planning Office of the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy's sponsored 4 day promotional German visit.  The BJFEZ along with the 5 other FEZ Authorities will participate in the Hanover Messe, the world's biggest shipbuilding conference for a promotional seminar and one on one investor meetings.
