≪BJFEZ Innovation and Growth Forum≫, an online forum to present and discuss new initiatives for BJFEZ

The ≪BJFEZ Innovation and Growth Forum≫ was held at Jinhae Marine Park on June 3rd to present and discuss new initiatives for Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone(BJFEZ). Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the forum was live-streamed online via official Youtube channel of BJFEZ.

The forum was
● a) to discuss ways to help the BJFEZ become a global logistics hub, such as expanding the territory of the FEZ by constructing a smart port and an integrated logistics complex in the FEZ and linking them with other logistics platforms in Northeast Asia,
● b) to reorganize the key industries of the BJFEZ by upgrading local core industries, such as automobiles and shipbuilding, and fostering new high-tech industries,
● c) and to innovate regulations and discover businesses that will lead innovation and growth.

At the forum, the future vision of the BJFEZ as well as how changes in internal and external environments—due to government‘s new policy (the announcement of the FEZ Innovation Strategies) and the construction of large-scale infrastructure (including the Jinhae New Port and the Gadeok Airport)—will affect the BJFEZ development strategies was discussed to redefine the role of the BJFEZ as a hub of innovation and growth.

The program of the forum consisted of 5 sessions and panel discussions as below.

● Discussion – Methods for Developing BJFEZ as the Hub of New Industry

The BJFEZ, which is the central axis of the Southeastern megacity strategy and the Tri-Port strategy currently being pursued by the central government and Busan/Ulsan/Gyeongbuk, is located in an optimal location to become a world-class logistics hub and opens an immense opportunity for foreign companies to suceed in Korea.
