Aquatic-Derived Bio-materials
◆ Development and Utilization of Aquatic-Derived Bio-materials
BJFEZ Authority held the third special lecture of the year for BJFEZ staff. This time the Authority invited an expert from the bio-healthcare field. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bio-Industry has grown greatly and its market size is anticipated to expand more than expected before the Covid-19 era.
The ocean is the source of abundant materials and humans have benefitted from it for a long time. The use of natural marine organisms has increased remarkably and the field is evolving rapidly.
Since BJFEZ is located by the ocean, it is home to various marine-related industries. Inviting a professional in this field was to develop and support new marine-related industries by broadening the knowledge about industries utilizing fisheries resources.
The lecturer Kim Young-Ok, the head researcher from the National Institute of Fisheries Science, shared the current and past research achievements in turning marine resources into bio-materials including medical, cosmetic, and industrial applications.
