BJFEZ Holds Its First “BJFEZ Businessperson’s Day” in 21
Years Since Establishment

Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (BJFEZ), led by Commissioner Park Sung-ho, hosted the first-ever “BJFEZ Businessperson’s Day” event on November 26 at 6 p.m., marking a milestone in its 21-year history. The event celebrated the dedication of business leaders and partners who have contributed to the development of the Free Economic Zone and served as a platform for Busan, Gyeongnam, tenant companies, and BJFEZ to reaffirm their shared vision for future growth.

The ceremony gathered around 100 distinguished guests, including Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon, Gyeongsangnam-do Governor Park Wan-soo, and representatives from key business organizations. Major attendees included Lee Soo-tae, Chairman of the BJFEZ Tenants Association (CEO of Panasia), Yang Jae-saeng, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Im Young-gap, Vice Chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce, and several business and institutional leaders.

The program featured:
· Recognition of contributors to the development of the Free Economic Zone,
· Presentation of BJFEZ’s Vision and Strategic Tasks,
· A joint Vision Declaration by Busan, Gyeongnam, and tenant companies,
· A cultural performance.

BJFEZ highlighted its major achievements this year, including attracting large-scale investments from domestic and global logistics companies such as Hyundai Glovis and Kokusai Express, and expanding residential and educational infrastructure in Myeongji International New City through projects like Royal Russell School Busan Campus and a medical complex town.

The vision presentation outlined plans to establish the Gadeokdo Airport Complex City and designate the Tri-port Integrated Logistics District, expanding the Free Economic Zone and strengthening the industrial base for BJFEZ’s four strategic industries: complex logistics & transport, smart mobility, advanced materials & parts, and bio-healthcare. Through 34 key initiatives in the “BJFEZ 2040 Development Plan,” the Authority aims to secure new engines for regional growth.

Mayor Park Heong-joon praised BJFEZ for achieving an S-grade rating for four consecutive years in the national evaluation of Free Economic Zones, calling it “the nation’s top-performing FEZ.” He added that Busan will continue expanding its economic zone centered on the Tri-port logistics district and Gadeokdo Airport project, preparing seamlessly for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries relocation and the era of the Arctic Route.

Governor Park Wan-soo emphasized Busan and Gyeongnam’s cooperative success in managing BJFEZ as a national model and expressed his intent to expand FEZs across the western region of Gyeongnam to include aerospace clusters in Jinju and Sacheon.

Commissioner Park Sung-ho pledged to continue communication-based administration by listening to corporate needs through initiatives like the Corporate Forum and On-site Company Tour, building a sustainable industrial ecosystem for regional growth.
