Strengthening Global Talent and Investment Networks

· Delegations from the University of Miami, University of Utah, and University of Virginia visit BJFEZ in succession.

· Over 100 faculty and MBA students explore the "Tri-Port" infrastructure and global supply chain strategies.

· Commissioner Park Seong-ho emphasizes BJFEZ as a strategic global business platform and seeks future academic-industrial cooperation.

BUSAN/CHANGWON, KOREA – In March 2026, the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (BJFEZ) hosted a series of visits from prestigious U.S. business schools, cementing its position as a world-class logistics and investment hub. Delegations from the University of Miami, the University of Utah, and the University of Virginia (UVA) visited the zone to gain firsthand insight into the region's dynamic business environment.

A Convergence of Global Academic Talent
The series of visits began on March 9 with over 50 faculty and students from the University of Miami’s Herbert Business School, a "Triple Crown" accredited institution. They were followed on March 12 by 20 students and officials from the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business, known for its focus on entrepreneurship. Finally, on March 13, 33 members of the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business visited as part of their "Darden Worldwide Courses" program.

Exploring the "Tri-Port" and Global Supply Chain Strategies
The visiting delegations focused on the core competitive advantages of BJFEZ, particularly the "Tri-Port" system—a seamless logistics network connecting the Busan New Port, the upcoming Gadeokdo New Airport, and extensive rail networks.

· Investment Infrastructure: Students explored the development status of the Busan New Port hinterland and the Gadeokdo New Airport, as well as the international business environment in the Myeongji District.
· Global SCM: Discussions focused on BJFEZ’s role as a critical logistics node amidst global supply chain reorganization and its strategies for attracting global enterprises.
· Case Studies: The Darden School, renowned for its case-study curriculum, selected BJFEZ as their first destination in Korea to study practical business operations.

Vision for Future Cooperation
Commissioner Park Seong-ho personally welcomed the groups, highlighting that BJFEZ is evolving into a strategic platform for global business beyond a mere logistics hub.

"It is highly meaningful that future global leaders from these prestigious institutions have experienced the competitiveness of BJFEZ firsthand," said Commissioner Park. "We will continue to expand our network with world-class universities and global talent to foster practical business cooperation and industry-academic exchanges in fields such as international logistics and investment strategy."

By establishing these networks with future decision-makers, BJFEZ aims to enhance its brand value and build long-term partnerships with the North American business community.
