Busan Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority Launches Full-Scale Investment Promotion Campaign for Advanced Industries in Hanoi, Vietnam
- Tailored consultations centered on Nammun Foreign Investment Zone and Bobae Mixed-Use District
- Commissioner Park Sung-ho: "We will leap forward as a global hub for advanced industry investment by expanding our cooperative foundation in Southeast Asia“
The Busan Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner: Park Sung-ho; hereinafter "BJFEZ") announced that it conducted a foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction campaign for the advanced manufacturing sector — as well as outreach to Korean companies seeking to reshore operations — in Hanoi, Vietnam, from May 18 to 21.
This initiative was undertaken to address growing corporate demand for diversified production bases amid the ongoing restructuring of global supply chains, and to intensively promote the investment appeal of two of BJFEZ's strategic locations: the Nammun Foreign Investment Zone and the Bobae Mixed-Use District.
The Nammun Foreign Investment Zone is a cluster-type foreign investment zone designated specifically for lease to foreign-invested enterprises and reshoring Korean companies, with a focus on materials and components industries. Tenant companies benefit from a comprehensive incentive package, including rent reductions, cash grants, and tax exemptions. The Bobae Mixed-Use District is being developed as a high-value-added integrated logistics hub — combining industrial and logistics functions — designed to link production, distribution, and export activities on the basis of port-connected logistics demand.
During the Hanoi visit, BJFEZ carried out a wide-ranging investment relations (IR) program, which included: one-on-one consultations with prospective investors; meetings with the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (KOCHAM) to assess the current landscape of Korean businesses operating locally; and efforts to strengthen cooperative investment attraction networks with KOTRA's Hanoi Trade Center and the Korea International Trade Association's Hanoi office.
Of particular note, BJFEZ representatives visited the Vietnam-based subsidiary of a Singapore-headquartered advanced components manufacturer specializing in automotive and IT devices, conducting an on-site tour of the production facility and delivering tailored investment consultations covering Nammun's locational competitiveness and available incentives. In addition, working-level meetings with KOCHAM, KOTRA Hanoi, and the World Korean Business and Trade Association (OKTA) resulted in the establishment of a collaborative investment attraction framework aimed at jointly identifying potential investors — laying the groundwork for a sustainable pipeline of future investment leads.
Vietnam serves as one of the primary overseas manufacturing bases for Korean companies. The northern region centered on Hanoi, in particular, is home to a significant concentration of firms in the electrical and electronics, automotive components, and machinery and equipment sectors. This industrial environment, combined with the broader movement among global companies to restructure their production networks, positions the area as a strategically important target region for investment attraction efforts.
Commissioner Park Sung-ho stated: "This investment promotion campaign in Vietnam has yielded meaningful results — broadening our cooperative foundation in Southeast Asia and uncovering promising reshoring demand at a time when global supply chain restructuring is rapidly accelerating. Anchored by the Port of Busan — the world's second-largest transshipment hub — the Busan Jinhae Free Economic Zone is a premier global logistics center. We will proactively attract advanced manufacturing enterprises to the Nammun Foreign Investment Zone and the Bobae Mixed-Use District, and continue to create new investment opportunities even amid shifting global supply chain dynamics.“
Building on the local networks forged and the investment consultation outcomes achieved through this IR campaign, BJFEZ plans to pursue follow-up discussions and sustain its strategic investment attraction activities in response to ongoing changes in the global supply chain landscape.
