BJFEZ Expands Investment Attraction Network in China's Jiangsu Province and Shanghai Region

 

- Visit to Qidong City, Jiangsu Province to broaden cooperation in investment attraction and industrial exchange

- MOUs signed with Qidong Economic Development Zone Management Committee and Beijing Youth International Culture and Arts Association

- Discussions on cooperation in port logistics, advanced manufacturing, and supply chains; Korea-China exchange network strengthened

 

Busan Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Park Sung-ho; hereinafter "BJFEZ") visited Qidong City in China's Jiangsu Province, where it signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the Qidong Economic Development Zone Management Committee and the Beijing Youth International Culture and Arts Association. Through these agreements, the parties committed to deepening cooperation across economic and trade, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and investment attraction.

 

The MOU between BJFEZ and the Qidong Economic Development Zone Management Committee is significant in that it establishes a cooperation channel linking the industrial and logistics strengths of Qidong Economic Development Zone with the port and advanced industry advantages of the Busan Jinhae Free Economic Zone. Under the agreement, both parties will work to promote mutual investment and business entry between companies in the two regions, facilitate the exchange of industrial information in the logistics and advanced manufacturing sectors, collaborate on investment promotion events and business consulting sessions, and advance industrial cooperation in port, logistics, and supply chain sectors.

 

The Qidong Economic Development Zone is a province-level state-designated development zone located in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province. Benefiting from its proximity to Shanghai and strong industrial and logistics access along the northern bank of the Yangtze River estuary, the zone has grown since its establishment in 1992 into a 50 km² industrial complex with new energy, biopharmaceuticals, and pan-semiconductor industries as its core sectors. It is also expanding its export-import logistics and supply chain capabilities through port infrastructure at Qidong Port and Lvsi Port. Notably, the zone's Marine Heavy Industry Industrial Park, which specializes in shipbuilding and marine equipment, is viewed as a strong candidate for collaboration with BJFEZ's own port and logistics infrastructure centered on Busan New Port and Jinhae New Port, as well as its shipbuilding components and advanced manufacturing sectors.

 

The MOU between BJFEZ and the Beijing Youth International Culture and Arts Association is meaningful in that it broadens the foundation for cooperation in industry, culture, and technology by leveraging Korea-China exchange networks, including the Qidong Korea-China Trade and Cultural Industry Platform. Under the agreement, both parties will strengthen ties through inter-institutional exchange, industrial information sharing, cooperative events such as investment forums, and collaboration in the areas of economy, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and investment attraction.

 

The MOU signing ceremony was held at the Qidong Binguan Hotel. Attendees included Park Sung-ho, Commissioner of BJFEZ; Moon Seong-a, Director of Investment Attraction Division 2; Guo Jian, Standing Member of the Qidong Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Qidong Economic Development Zone Party Working Committee; Wang Fenghua, Director of Qidong Economic Development Zone; Song Feichi, Deputy Director of Qidong Economic Development Zone; Huang Wei, Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of Qidong Economic Development Zone; and Wang Jie, President of the Beijing Youth International Culture and Arts Association.

 

Commissioner Park Sung-ho remarked, "The Busan Jinhae Free Economic Zone combines strong port and logistics competitiveness centered on Busan New Port and Jinhae New Port with prime conditions for advanced industries. This MOU will give concrete shape to the potential for industrial cooperation with the Qidong Economic Development Zone, and serves as an opportunity to expand our investment attraction network across China's Jiangsu Province and the greater Shanghai region."
