Grand Opening

Daewoo Logistics Container Terminal

‘Daewoo Logistics Container Terminal’ opens to facilitate the difficulties of BJFEZ tenant companies, derived from an increase in the import and export volume.

Kim Ki-young, the commissioner of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) Authority, attended the opening ceremony of the Daewoo Logistics Container Terminal to celebrate the grand opening along with the vice governor of economic affairs of Gyeongnam Province, and related personnel from the BJFEZ Authority and Changwon City.

The opening ceremony consisted of a project progress report, congratulatory speech, and topping-off performance,

Recently, companies have faced plenty of difficulties due to the prolonged setbacks in the global logistics supply chain and the shortage of storage places for export cargo. Therefore, the need for a new container terminal for the public interest at Busan New Port grew even further.

There has been a consistent demand for a new public container terminal at Busan New Port for some issues the existing public container terminal had, for instance, an early closing hour―18:00h― on weekdays and the absence of an electric system.

Therefore, Daewoo Logistics took a step forward and invested approximately 2.9 million US dollars to open a new public container terminal. This amount― 3.4 million USD―was just a small part of their investment in BJFEZ. Daewoo Logistics invested 52 million USD to build cold-chain storage at Ungdong Distripark in BJFEZ.

We wish to show our gratitude to Daewoo Logistics for their effort and contribution to improve Busan New Port’s efficiency. BJFEZ Authority will also make an effort to ease the regulations that limit flexible business activities so that our tenant companies can strengthen their competitiveness and grow globally.
