How Korea and China can Excel via the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone

On March 25-26, the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority will participate in the highly publicized conference, the Harvard China Review: China’s Next Phase.

The Authority’s Commissioner Soo-Man Chang will address the audience as a guest speaker through a presentation titled “Emerging as a NE Asia’s Business Center.”

In particular he will talk about how a rapidly growing China can cooperate with Korea by working through the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone.

One of the major advantages he will discuss is how Chinese businesses can drastically reduce shipping time and costs by handling their logistics at the zone’s Busan New Port facilities.

Currently, Chinese companies are producing products fully made in China before shipping them off to their final destination of Japan. The Commissioner’s presentation will strategize how China can save 42% on logistics costs and 5 days lead time by instead shipping via the Busan New Port before stopping at Japan’s Fukuoka port.

The Commissioner will use this platform as an opportunity to highlight the strengths of the Busan-Jinhae FEZ in its relation to China’s future interests and furthermore educate the greater public of Korea’s efforts to induce FDI through the creation of such zones.

The Harvard China Review, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1998 by a group of professionals in the greater Boston area who wanted to bring China to the forefront of the world through exchanges between China and the international community. This year’s conference is expected to bring together more than 600 attendees.
