Introducing the Busan Technopark

 

 

To ensure Korea’s stellar reputation as a leading technology manufacturer, Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Technopark recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the research centers’ scheduled move into the reserved land within the Busan Science & Industrial Park which is part of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone. By June next year, once these research facilities are fully equipped, ‘one-stop technology support’ will actively buffer the industry’s field.

 

A total of 9 buildings with 2-5 floors each will be constructed on 172,000 m² of land within the Park. The area has been reserved for various research centers including a venture company support building, test production building, a mechanic and auto parts technology support building, digital technology building, and a high-tech parts support building.

 

The Technopark complex will secure a seamless cooperation system among industry, academics and research in order to conduct R & D on products and technologies, test production, performance testing and other functions that companies cannot easily carry out in the field. An official at Busan Metropolitan City said “The Technopark Research Center will be a great help in gathering R & D performances in the western Busan area where mechanical and automobile parts companies are prospering.”

 

Along with the Busan Jinhae Free Economic Zone where foreign firms related to auto parts and high-tech machinery including Renault-Samsung Motors will be housed, the Busan Technopark Research Center is expected to spearhead the nation’s economy as well as that of Busan and Gyeongnam.
