Europe's Coffee and Logistics Industries Flow Through the BJFEZ to Asia!
The Busan–Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Park Sung-ho, hereinafter referred to as “the BJFEZ Authority”) conducted full-scale foreign investment promotion activities from May 12 to 16, visiting key industrial hubs across Europe. The primary focus was on attracting investment to the South Container Hinterland Complex at Busan New Port within the BJFEZ.
This initiative was jointly carried out with KOTRA, targeting Frankfurt, Germany—Europe’s center for the coffee industry—and Copenhagen, Denmark—a global logistics hub. Based on sector-specific strategies, the BJFEZ Authority held tailored investment consultations and on-site presentations with European companies.
The main target companies included ▲coffee bean roasters, ▲premium beverage brands, and ▲food and beverage packaging and distribution firms in Frankfurt, as well as ▲global 3PL (third-party logistics) providers and ▲smart logistics solution firms in Copenhagen. The BJFEZ Authority placed particular emphasis on promoting the location competitiveness and investment infrastructure of Busan New Port, located at the heart of the BJFEZ.
The South Container Hinterland Complex at Busan New Port is a logistics site directly connected to one of Asia’s largest trading ports. It offers optimal conditions for establishing high-value-added logistics facilities and smart logistics centers. In particular, the BJFEZ Authority is proposing an “end-to-end investment promotion package,” which includes designation as a Foreign Investment Zone, tax incentives, and customized support for permits and approvals—designed to support companies throughout the entire establishment process.
Commissioner Park Sung-ho stated, “Frankfurt and Copenhagen are key hubs for the coffee and logistics industries in Europe. This investment promotion initiative represents a prime opportunity to showcase the potential of Busan New Port as a true supply chain hub connecting to Asia.” He added, “We aim to move beyond basic promotional efforts and deliver tangible investment results by presenting specific location models tailored to the needs of individual companies.”
Building on this visit to Europe, the BJFEZ Authority plans to host targeted briefing sessions and individual consultation meetings for promising European companies in the second half of the year by leveraging its local networks. The Authority is also planning to participate in international exhibitions related to coffee and logistics and to co-host seminars with domestic industry stakeholders. Through these initiatives, it aims to position Busan New Port within the BJFEZ as a strategic base for global supply chain realignment and a source of impactful investments that will drive regional economic growth.
