Introduction Letter

Northeast Asia is rapidly changing and its market is constantly expanding. In particular, China has become a major target for foreign investment. As the world is racing to become a part of the dynamic Northeast Asian market both in and outside of China, more and more needs and services are in demand.

How will you use this current situation to your advantage? What are your strategies for putting a stake in the world’s fastest growing economy?

The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (located on the southeast coast of South Korea) is poised to become a major business hub within Northeast Asia by the time of its completion in 2020.

An initiative fully backed by the Korean government, the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) will serve as a strategic gateway to doing business in China and Japan with easy access to North America, Europe and Eurasia. It will become an ideal place for foreign investors to live and work, all at a very low cost.

Established in October 2003, the BJFEZ aims to attract major foreign businesses, industries, developers, medical and educational facilities as well as leisure and tourism ventures.

You have received this email, the first of weekly updates to be issued by the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, because we believe the BJFEZ could be a place of interest to your future business endeavors or because we want to share with you exciting news related to our work as it unfolds.

The BJFEZ is currently in its initial stages of development and talks are taking place between the Authority and potential foreign investors and developers who are interested in using the free economic zone as a launch pad into the Northeast Asian market. The BJFEZ’s attractive incentives such as exempted or reduced taxes, cheap land prices, and administrative services and support, among other benefits, are just some of the reasons why companies are so interested in establishing themselves within the zone.

To summarize briefly, the BJFEZ is divided into 5 main areas: The New Port Area, Myeongji district, Jisa district, Dudong district and Ungdong district. Each section has its own purpose and target industries. For a more detailed look at each individual district and its business needs, please refer to the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority’s website at www.bjfez.net. In addition, we will also send detailed information in our weekly summaries regarding the FEZ’s unique districts for development including development plans, progress reports, etc.

If you wish to talk to someone in the Authority about business opportunities within the FEZ, please refer to the list of contact people found at the end of this message.

We hope you find these weekly updates informative and interesting. As the Northeast Asian market is rapidly growing, the possibilities that come with launching your business into this market are numerous and exciting. And we can help you do it.

Thank you for your time and enjoy the upcoming weekly summaries.
